Position Description:
The Fit to Nominal Engineer (FtN) will be responsible for validating the Fit and Finish deck that comes from (VAST), identify part to part coordination issues and quality issues (exterior/interior) within product design by measuring the margin and flushness and using the perceived quality audits to confirm part to part compliance by assisting to each launch event (DCV, TT, PP, MP1, MP2). The Fit to Nominal engineer will generate the issue list and setup the binning sessions with the thresholders to ensure a proper and timely manner issue resolution. Also, the Fit to Nominal Engineer has the responsibility of pre-graning and AAR approvals using part dimensional data and launch build data. Specific tasks/responsibilities • Measure vehicle level interior and exterior part to part margins and flushness to confirm compliance to build event requirements (VAST). Measurements will be taken on completed vehicles. • Perform the Perceived Quality Reviews based on the GFCPA Audit Checklist. • Lead CTQ / PQ audits with launch teams for (DCV, TT, PP, MP1, MP2) phases. • Vehicle compliance to build requirements will be summarized and documented at each build event (e.g., DCV, TT, PP, MP1, MP2). • Generate issue list & setup binning sessions with the broader team within (1) week of audit completion. • Lead CTQ (Critical to Quality) AIMS issues generation & AIMS updates. • As part of the DCV, TT, PP part dimensional data analysis, OK to Grain assessments will be made with the required completion milestones for Pre-graining approval. • AAR Approval: Review AAR dimensional data & final AAR approval. • Work with PD & VOME Engineers, STA & Suppliers for tracking and binning the Fit & Finish Issues.
Skills Required:
3D Modeling, Performance Analytics , Auditing 1. Skill Expectations & Examples • 3D Modeling: Experience navigating and reviewing CAD data in Catia / Teamcenter to evaluate clearances, packaging, and interior/exterior part interfaces. • Performance Analytics: Ability to analyze dimensional quality reports, gap & flush data, and track Craftsmanship launch metrics/KPIs. • Auditing: Conducting physical craftsmanship audits, plant fit-and-finish static evaluations, and supplier quality part reviews.
Skills Preferred:
Six Sigma Green Belt • Six Sigma Green Belt: Experience applying DMAIC methodology and root-cause analysis tools to resolve launch fit-and-finish issues.
Experience Required:
Skills Required for the Position • +3 years of experience automotive Body Interior/Exterior related experience. • Demonstrated knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). • Teamcenter & VisMockup knowledge equivalent to designer role. • Knowledge in GD&T and how to perform physical dimensioning on vehicle. • Proficient reading, writing and conversational English required. English level 95%. • Demonstrated tracking record, project delivery and cross-system problem solving. • Computer skills included MS office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook). • Additional Information: Travel is required to support product launches.
