Position Description:
Body Closures Engineer in charge of Side Door Assemblies along with opening and closing related actions. Responsible for component release for closures components like Door Structure, Hinges, Check arms throughout program life cycle, including concept design, supplier engagement, BOM management, systems requirements, simulation analysis, prototyping builds, validation testing, and production support. • Comply with Program cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing targets. • Apply GPDS (Global Product Development System) process. • Comply with Robustness Engineering Disciplines (Quality History, P – Diagram, FMEA, etc.) • Application of six sigma and 8D • Develop Engineering Statement of Work and participate in the Sourcing Process (Supplier Onboard, ED&T review, piece and tooling cost review and CPA • Follow the TDR process (Technical Design Review) with Upper Management • Release parts in FEDEBOM & WERS (BOM system) through the product life cycle. Support the Change Control Meeting • Audit & update BOM (Bill of Materials) with correct part levels and usage, for prototype builds and maintain it post Job-1 • Be aware of Worldwide Engineering changes and proceed accordingly. • Identify validation, durability and functional test required as per  Standards (Design Validation Plan) • Provide technical solutions to emerging issues via Automated Issues Management System (AIMS) & JIRA resolution. • Define and verify engineering prototypes requirements at part level. • Parts implementation/Sign-off in assembly plant in all milestones • Program Direction Letter’s revisions and proceed accordingly if affected. • Support VQR’s, VRT’s and PVT teams to solve quality and plant issues as required. • Jointly with purchasing, identify potential suppliers to develop identified parts to be localized. • Jointly with Supplier Technical Assistant (STA) team give technical assistance to supplier through the Supplier Engagement Process • Comply with objectives set during the quarters of year Individuals in this position will be working on: 1. Skills Required:
Team Center, CAE, Sketchup (3D Modeling Software), Six Sigma Methodology, 3D Modeling, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, AVBOM, Mechanical Engineering, CATIA 1. Team Center – Familiarized with Teamcenter software, it is our CAD repository. We want them to be able to search for parts and review them in our 3D software. 2. CAE – Being able to read, understand and interpret CAE reports. Like Sheet Metal Stamping feasibility, Door durability, Door sag, etc… 3. Sketchup (3D Modeling Software) – Be proficient on CATIA and/or 3DX software, intention is for the candidates to be able to pull parts from our CAD repository and modify them so they can express their ideas to solve any given problem. 4. Six Sigma Methodology – Understand Six Sigma and being able to solve issues using the DMAIC process. Want to see their thought process to find issue root cause and potential solution. 5. 3D Modeling Be proficient on CATIA and/or 3DX software, intention is for the candidates to be able to pull parts from our CAD repository and modify them so they can express their ideas to solve any given problem 6. Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office – Proficient on MS office tools, being able to create spreadsheets and presentations for Design Reviews 7. AVBOM –Internal Bill Of Material software. I would like to see how they manage the BOM of their commodities 8. Mechanical Engineering – Extensive on Mechanics of Materials like Steel and Aluminum, know mechanical properties. Have good knowledge on Statics and Dynamics. Familiarized with Manufacturing processes, like stamping, forging, etc… 9. CATIA – Be proficient on CATIA and/or 3DX software, intention is for the candidates to be able to pull parts from our CAD repository and modify them so they can express their ideas to solve any given problem
Skills Preferred:
Leadership, 3D Printing , Project Management, Planning, Good Manufacturing Practices, Change Management 1. Leadership – Being able to lead a cross functional team (manufacturing, finances, purchasing, program, CAD) to get the solution on any given issue. 2. 3D Printing – Familiarized to 3D printing capabilities to show potential solution ideas 3. Project Management – Being able to keep good tracking of part development to deliver them on time and with quality with the provided given constraints like time, cost and weight 4. Planning – Have good skills to plan ahead of time and check what potential issues could come up from the proposed ideas 5. Good Manufacturing Practices – Familiarized with Manufacturing processes, like stamping, forging, etc… 6. Change Management – Being able to keep good tracking of part development to deliver them on time and with quality
Experience Required:
Need 2 or more years of experience related to Body Closures, specifically Side Door Assemblies along with opening and closing related actions. Responsible of component release for closures components like Door Structure, Hinges, Check arms, throughout program life cycle, including concept design, supplier engagement, BOM management, systems requirements, simulation analysis, prototyping builds, validation testing, and production support.
Experience Preferred:
Any experience related to closures, like Liftgates, Tailgates, Moveable glass, Dynamic Sealing, Moonroofs.
Education Required:
Bachelor’s Degree

Master’s Degree
