Associate Analytical Technician

Position Summary
The Associate Analytical Technician supports customer fluid analysis by performing routine laboratory testing and generating accurate, high-quality analytical data. This role is responsible for sample preparation, operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment, data collection and reporting, and ensuring compliance with laboratory safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and able to work effectively in a collaborative laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory analyses using established standard operating procedures and analytical methods.
• Prepare and process customer samples for testing and accurately document results.
• Operate, calibrate, standardize, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Conduct analytical testing using techniques such as:
  • Gas Chromatography (GC)
  • Liquid Chromatography (LC)
  • Ion Chromatography (IC)
  • Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES)
  • Refractive Index Analysis, pH and Reserve Alkalinity Titration
• Record, organize, interpret, and communicate laboratory data, escalating unexpected results when necessary.
• Maintain laboratory inventories of chemicals, consumables, and supplies.
• Communicate with customers to gather information required for sample analysis.
• Participate in team meetings focused on safety, process improvements, and problem-solving.
• Support continuous improvement by recommending enhancements to laboratory procedures and equipment.
• Maintain compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) policies and laboratory best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, and the ability to quickly learn new software systems.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, problem-solving, and time management skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work well in a team environment.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following EH&S procedures.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, lab coat, dust mask, and steel-toed shoes.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods while working in a laboratory environment.

Education & Experience
One of the following qualifications is required:

• Post-secondary coursework or degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field (recent graduates are encouraged to apply), OR
• High school diploma or vocational education with laboratory, manufacturing, or other relevant technical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of chemical laboratory operations and laboratory safety practices.
• Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation, analytical testing methods, and quality documentation practices.
