1st Shift – Either 4x10s (5AM – 3:30PM Mon-Thu or Tue-Fri) or 5x8s (Mon-Fri 6AM – 2:30PM)
The garage technician will be responsible for bumper-to-bumper repairs and troubleshooting/diagnosing repairs/electrical issues on vehicles. This includes engine work and spot repairs. Cab offs are a part of the everyday routine. There are four engine swaps currently in the queue. This group does not do internal transmission, but they do everything else: wire harness, install instrumentation, etc.
The daily breakdown includes: go into the garage, start the job/ continue where they left off from the previous day. Once complete, go to the team lead, who will assign a work ticket to them, hand them the piece of the vehicle, and give an overview of the ticket and what needs to be done. The tech will go get the vehicle from the lot, bring it into the garage, put it on a lift, and work on what is needed. We work ticket by work ticket: the work varies so much, we cannot put a number on how many work tickets someone will see on a daily/weekly basis.
May be required to travel a few times/year, supporting test ride groups. They'll follow the engineering team in a vehicle, loaded with tools, making repairs along the way.
