Position Description:
Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) Engineer is a member of a Product Development organization, co-located at the Chicago Assembly Plant (CAP) along with the Operations team. The Electrical / Electronic Hardware PVT Engineer has several responsibilities associated with analyzing and improving the Quality of the Explorer, Lincoln Aviator and Police Interceptor vehicles built at Chicago. – Review incoming warranty claims data on a daily basis, review customer and dealership comments, bin claims into proper binning categories, contact dealership/s for parts and repair diagnoses, participate in customer call back to ensure proper understanding of customer feedback – Review returned parts for root cause analyses and develop Interim Containment and Permanent Corrective Actions – Support assembly plant with Stop Ships/Stop Builds, Campaigns,Audits, Root Cause Analyses and other Quality related tasks – Lead engineering commodity changes for future minor product launches and lead cost reduction actions in current production vehicles. – Support Variability Reduction Team (VRT) for specific sub-systems and work closely with Supplier partners to address quality concerns. – Lead engineering trials and the implementation of running changes for the sub-system – Issue engineering Alerts and initiate and/or pursue authorization of engineering Concerns for product changes to support Quality objectives – Engage technical experts and functional team members for driving resolution and in developing corrective actions to improve product Quality – Maintain sub-system or Vehicle Functional Group (VFG) level Quality documents (SAQ,Top 20 concerns) – Make presentations to various levels of upper management (weekly VRT report out, Vehicle Quality Reviews, Engineering Managers reviews). Please note this position will have the individual working at the Systems level across two Functions and Variability Reduction Teams, Electrical/Electronic Hardware & Body Interior.

Skills Required:
Electrical Engineering – this was selected since there was no option to select a combination of Electrical Engineering and Body Interior Engineering. I am looking for a candidate that has some experience working with both Body Interior and Electrical systems from a Systems Engineering standpoint. For example, some Body Interior components such as Seats, Restraints, Door Trim, and IP & Cockpit contain electronic modules or Switches that control specific vehicle function. The engineer would be able to understand communication between the modules (e.g., CAN communication), troubleshooting as it applies to the specific functions that the modules or switches control and their impact to the rest of Body Interior.

2-5 years
