Quantity Survey Technician

The Quantity Survey Technician is a highly visible, field-based role supporting audits, corrosion management, asset inspections, and fleet and fuel program administration at a large industrial manufacturing site. This hands-on position requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently throughout an operating chemical plant environment.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working in the field, conducting measurements and inspections, collaborating with contractors and site personnel, and supporting multiple site functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform unit rate audits for scaffolding, painting, insulation, and maintenance-related projects to verify supplier billing accuracy and work quality.

• Conduct field assessments of piping, tanks, and other plant assets as part of the corrosion management program.

• Evaluate and categorize corrosion conditions to support maintenance planning and budgeting.

• Complete routine site inspections and reassessments throughout the year.

• Perform measurements, quality assessments, and field observations as required.

• Support administration and tracking of the site's vehicle fleet and fuel management program.

• Maintain accurate tracking data, reports, and documentation using Excel and other site systems.

• Work closely with company personnel and contractor partners to resolve questions and ensure accurate project information.

• Follow all site safety procedures and requirements while working in an operating industrial environment.

Required Qualifications

• Approximately 2–5 years of relevant industrial or field-based experience.

• Experience in a chemical plant, refinery, industrial manufacturing, construction, maintenance, inspection, or related environment.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately perform measurements, inspections, and audits.

• Ability to work independently and spend significant time in the field.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively with employees, contractors, and other stakeholders.

• Basic to intermediate Excel and data-tracking skills.

• Ability to learn and follow site-specific safety requirements and operational procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with scaffolding, painting, insulation, or industrial construction projects.

• Maintenance planning experience.

• Experience with corrosion management, coatings, asset integrity, or inspection programs.

• Familiarity with piping systems, tanks, and industrial equipment.

• NACE or similar coatings/corrosion certification.

• Knowledge of industrial painting and corrosion prevention programs.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Significant field work throughout the year, including outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

• Frequent travel throughout the Midland site using company fleet vehicles.

• Work in an operating chemical plant and industrial environment.

• Ability to wear required PPE, including safety boots, gloves, hard hat, and potentially FR-rated clothing.

• Ability to successfully complete site background screening, drug and alcohol screening, and required site safety training/onboarding.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, field-oriented professional who enjoys working outdoors and throughout an industrial site. Candidates with experience in chemical plants, refineries, industrial manufacturing, maintenance planning, corrosion/coatings, inspection, asset integrity, or industrial construction are strongly preferred.
