Position Summary
The Senior Construction Specialist provides leadership for the construction management discipline with a focus on Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) projects. This role is responsible for ensuring construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality, cost, and schedule objectives. The Senior Construction Specialist leads construction teams, manages contractor performance, and provides technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, from Front End Loading (FEL) through project completion.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead construction management activities for I&E projects, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Champion construction safety best practices and foster a zero-incident safety culture across project teams and contractors.
  • Develop and execute construction management plans, including resource planning and staffing requirements.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and resource leaders to align construction plans with project budgets and staffing needs.
  • Provide construction expertise during Front End Loading (FEL) to improve project planning and constructability.
  • Optimize construction costs through effective planning, constructability reviews, and the application of industry best practices and technology.
  • Support contract labor strategy, oversee construction contractors, manage labor agreements, resolve claims, and monitor labor costs.
  • Utilize the Global Capital Work Process (GPM) Construction Work Process and leverage construction networks to drive project success.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining integrated construction schedules, ensuring timely communication of schedule risks or deviations.
  • Promote quality planning to minimize start-up and operational issues during project execution.
  • Mentor and coach construction personnel, providing technical guidance and leadership to support team development.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practices, innovative technologies, and lessons learned to enhance future project performance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field preferred.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of relevant construction experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading construction activities for industrial capital projects, preferably with a focus on Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E).
  • Strong knowledge of construction management principles, constructability practices, contractor management, and project execution.
  • Experience managing project safety, quality, schedules, budgets, and contractor performance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to mentor teams and effectively collaborate with cross-functional project stakeholders.
